INTAC at SECAC Conference, Atlanta

Posted on October 30, 2024December 16, 2024

Giselle and Peter are just back from the SECAC (Southeastern College Art Conference) in Atlanta. Giselle applied for us to present ideas from our book Modelling International Collaborations in Art Education. The panel presentation was excellent and besides our discussion of international collaboration and online communication, there were other thoughts about online teaching: what makes for excellent demo videos, online safety training and research into supporting faculty to use the Canvas LMS effectively. Great perspectives and ideas to think about.

We announced our book in many contexts during the 4 days and the main book table, the Scholar’s Choice, displayed a copy provided by Intellect Books.

Myself, I made connections with faculty from Savannah College of Art and Design, among many others, as well as Dominik Lengyel from Berlin, expert in visualizations of ancient and historical architecture. We had a number of fascinating and wide-ranging chats. I attended presentations on artist residency experiences, art related to climate change and artist-run organizations. We made a number of promising contacts for the next Sustainability Jam we will plan for next May-June. Some of them are in Chicago and will be great contacts for Giselle I think. The environment and climate change was a strong theme in this year’s conference, as was collaboration of all kinds.

Much thanks to Giselle for connecting us to this conference. Peter
